Following graduation, she spent a few years as a middle school teacher in Nashville, that is until she found a passion for birth work and black maternal health through her own journey into motherhood. Alisha now serves as the Program Director of Homeland Heart as well as one of their Doula Trainers. She thoroughly enjoys this work, as it has provided her with the opportunity to give back to her community. Alisha has worked extensively in lactation as a peer counselor and has trained in Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorders. As a former educator, Alisha has a strong passion for educating families; empowering them to make informed consensual choices throughout their pregnancy and labor. She loves birth-work and enjoys being able to support birthing people during their journey into parenthood.
